Leader needs the guts to come forward first and stand alone and look ridiculous. The leader need not have a great skill but he should be very simple and instructional so that others can follow him.
The first follower plays a very crucial role in the making of any leader as he is the one who makes a lonely guy into a leader and in a way inspires other to follow the leader. The first few followers are the key for the success of the leader, so the leader must embrace those gutsy guys who came forward to support him. Getting ridiculed, it takes real guts to be the first follower and being a first follower is an under-appreciated form of leadership but he is the guy who has the spark to transform the lonely nut into a worthy leader. Also new followers emulate followers not the leaders.
